Danfoss Business Breakfast Briefing with Jørgen Mads Clausen

The DUCC had the pleasure of hosting a Business Breakfast Briefing with Mr. Jørgen Mads Clausen, chairman of the board of Danfoss. The fully booked event took place at Quaglino’s Restaurant on February 26, 2010.

The Danfoss group is a global leader within research, development, production, sales, and service of mechanical and electronic components for several industries. Mr. Clausen kindly agreed to present at the breakfast briefing, as he was in London due to the DBAL event (Danish Business Angels London) which took place at the Royal Danish Embassy on 25 February 2010. Here, 6 Danish clean-tech companies were presenting their business plans whilst hoping to gain support and funding from British business angels. At the Business Breakfast Briefing Jørgen Mads Clausen talked about both the successes and the challenges that Danfoss has experienced within recent periods of time. He explained how Danfoss has handled the global financial crisis by focussing on R&D, similar to what other companies have also done. He also emphasised the large growth potential in the BRIC (Brazil, India, China) countries, which provide good prospects for expansion at a time where there are few opportunities for growth at home. R&D should be focussing on solutions for reducing CO2 emissions. China is a great example of a country that focuses on energy efficiency, even though this may not seem salient. Jørgen Mads Clausen emphasised that Danfoss should indeed stick to its core business in a time of financial crisis; that is, remaining a world leader in sales and service of mechanical and electronic components by maintaining a strong environmental profile.

The feedback that the DUCC received after the event has been very positive and we hope to be able to host similar breakfast briefings within the near future.
