Dear members,

We are proud to present the new official DUCC Advisory Board 2010. The three companies, UIE, Tulip and Metsa Tissue, left us whilst Saxo Bank, Latchways and Invensys PLC joined, giving the chamber a total of 23 Advisory Board Members. The support of the Advisory Board is vital to the regular members of the chamber, enabling an increased level of activity and added resources to the secretariat. Check them out at www.ducc.co.uk.

February saw the second Business Angel Network event here in London, bringing over 6 clean-tech firms from Denmark all under one roof, to pitch for funding in front of a panel of business angels. DUCC organised this in conjunction with The Danish Embassy and Keystones. The afternoon session was strictly for business angels and private financiers, while the morning session was open to a select few professional firms to test the pitching firms. This gave the pitching firms a chance to test and adjust their presentations accordingly, prior to the real pitch that afternoon. Furthermore, by attending, the people we invited in to “grill” the pitching firms, were given an opportunity to get close to these companies and at the same time networking with some of the business angels during the joint lunch buffet within a comfortable and intimate environment.

The next time where 5-6 IT firms will be pitching is on the 27th May 2010. We strongly encourage any business angel or early stage VCs who may be interested, to get in touch to take part in the afternoon session. However, this time around all DUCC members can apply to become a “dragon” for the morning’s dry-run. There is a limit to how many people will be invited and we will select from a cross section of disciplines like legal advice, company formations, communications, PR etc. to ensure the pitching companies get as wide a range as possible.

If you are interested please do not hesitate to get in touch and tell us why we should consider inviting you and what you believe will be in it for you. The deadline is the 14th May 2010. The organisers will then select from these and invite accordingly. There is also a chance to sponsor the event, which will enable you to attend the whole day. Please get in touch if this sounds of interest. More information will follow later.

Happy Networking,

Gunnar P. Larsen

Managing Director, Danish-UK Chamber of Commerce
