Have Your Say

Have Your Say - ideas for the DUCC calendar 2010

One of the most important aspects of the functioning of the DUCC is to meet the interests of the members and to be responsive to their ideas. For these reasons our “Have Your Say” event was set in place. The idea behind was to create a forum where the members were able to influence the form and content of the DUCC event calendar.

On 28 January a small, but very inventive, group of members from different companies attended. One member noticed that none of the DUCC council members were present - something the participant and everybody else found fully understandable since Gunnar Larsen represents the board, yet it was indicated that it would have been nice to have seen a few other council members and listen to their inputs as well. However, a lively and interesting “brainstorming session” was initiated where all participants came up with very useful contributions.

One idea was to create an event fostering innovative thinking where all participants would benefit from working together in small focus groups formed to solve a specific business case. The idea was to analyse the business case from different perspectives, for instance from a strategic, financial or branding point of view.Other keywords related to this discussion were “entrepreneurship” and “matchmaking” where different types of companies or successful entrepreneurs could meet for an event where knowledge sharing would be at the centre. Specific topics for these types of events are still being debated.

Another interesting suggestion related to the more social events at the DUCC was to arrange “speed meetings” where participants would be guaranteed to talk to people that they may not normally turn to.

At the DUCC office we would like to encourage all members to continuously share their ideas with us, also if you should have any comments regarding the ideas presented above. “Have Your Say” is not solely restricted to our meetings, feel free to contact us if you have a great idea that you would like to share with us.
