The Annual Gala Evening raised more than £ 15,000 in support of the Eve Appeal
|

|
"On behalf everybody at the The Eve Appeal Team and myself, I want to thank you for an amazing and very successful event arranged by you in connection with your Annual Gala Evening on the 30th of March at The Drapers’ Hall, where the main purpose was to support the Eve Appeal in raising money to fight women’s reproductive cancers. It was an extraordinary event, which took a lot of effort to arrange.I was personally very touched by the wonderful support and interest from everybody. |
It is people like you and events like these that give all of us the energy to continue our fight. You have really made a difference and provided us with the opportunity to raise a sustainable sum of money so we can save even more lives from this terrible illness. Thank you" Peter Vagn-Jensen Founder and President of The Eve Appeal

"The Annual Gala Dinner at Drapers Hall was a very enjoyable evening. The splendid surroundings made it a memorable occasion in more ways than one, and particularly in memory of Lone Vagn-Jensen, who has a special place in the heart of most people present.Congratulations to the Chamber for organising the Dinner and raising a great amount of money for The Eve Appeal"

First ever DUCC Event in Yorkshire
…and the second regional DUCC event in 2006
The Event was hosted by the Chamber in the exclusive board room of the Radisson SAS Hotel in the Centre of Leeds.
Mr Martin Mortensen, Executive Director of the Danish-UK Chamber of Commerce welcomed the guests and introduced the guest speakers, Mrs Jaroslava Riley form Yorkshire Forward and Matt Delaney form UK Trade and Investment. |
 |
| Mrs Jaroslava Riley, International Trade Executive at the regional development agency Yorkshire Forward. Mrs Riley gave an extremely interesting presentation on business links between here and the Nordic region and Scandinavian activities here in Yorkshire. |

The motivation behind this event and the introduction of DUCC activities in Yorkshire, is the increased interest from Danish companies, and business people to establish their business there, and also the feedback we receive from the ones who are already there. Furthermore, after Manchester, Yorkshire has the largest cluster of members of the Danish-UK Chamber of Commerce outside London.
Matthew Delany from UK Trade & Investment welcomed the idea of the intensified regional focus by the DUCC.

Dear Members
Following on from the momentum created by our Annual Charity Dinner on the 30th of March and our first regional event in Leeds on the 5th of April, we have a programme packed with interesting activities for the next couple of months.
Besides our regular Nordic Thursday Drinks, which will take place on the 27th of April, we also have some very exciting events scheduled for May and June 2006. You should already have received notice for our Annual General Meeting, which will take place on Thursday the 11th of May at the Radisson SAS Portman Hotel. On the 17th of May 2006 we will host a MBA seminar at the Royal Danish Embassy where a panel of successful Danish MBA graduates will tell you all about their experiences with this much discussed and highly rated study programme.
On the 8th of June 2006, new member of the Chamber, SAXO Bank, has kindly invited all fellow members to join the opening reception of their brand new UK offices in the heart of Canary Wharf.
We hope you share our opinion that the first quarter of 2006 has been extremely exciting and filled with a variety of very different events; from Gala Evenings to Joint events with other Chambers and trade organisations and from regional events to Nordic Thursday Drinks. As it is the aim of the Chamber to cater for all of our different members, I am confident that you will find the event that suits you and your business.
However, should you have any input in regards to the constant development and improvement of the Chamber, please do not hesitate to contact us at the office and we will be happy to discuss any new thoughts to help us provide you with the best possible service.
I hope to see you all at our next event on 27 April at the Radisson Portman hotel.
Best regards,
Martin Mortensen

Birgitte joined the DUCC in 2005 after starting her own company, Purple Chair Events, where she organises events and networking opportunities.
Tell us about your business concept and how you have started up?
I saw a need in the market for an event company with a Scandinavian twist. There are a lot of event companies in London and many of them are adding too much on their bills. They don’t negotiate with their suppliers and they never pass on the discounts / savings to their clients. | We don’t behave like that – at Purple Chair we believe in complete financial transparency and we will always try and make ourselves self- liquidating by negotiating greater discounts and savings than the fees we charge.
Do you have some advice for others who are looking to start their own businesses?
Do your homework, and find a good accountant. They can help you with a lot of practical things in the beginning. My accountant has saved me a lot of time and a lot of hassle.
Which events would you usually be organising?
Usually we organise staff parties and conferences. We are also doing quite a lot of product launches through an advertising and marketing agency called JDI.
You have teamed up with JDI (Just Do It) for the event you are organising for the DUCC, can you tell us more about JDI?
JDi is a highly flexible full service marketing communications agency providing Advertising, PR, Direct and On-line marketing services. With a high energy, low cost "can do" mentality, JDi are committed to maximising results and minimising costs, which is why we (Purple Chair) work so well with them. We have the same business and ethical philosophy. With a string of new business wins over the past year, JDi's reputation continues to grow from strength to strength. JDi creates dedicated tailor-made teams for each client, capable of evolving with their changing business needs providing a fully integrated service on a scale previously unseen in our industry. This has proved particularly popular in the current economic climate. We want to be a part of that.
I understand you have an interesting venue and presentation planned for the event 14 June?
Yes, The presentation is a surprise. We are going to M1NT, a private club on Sloane Street. It’s a great venue and it has been used quite a lot for exclusive fashion shows and private parties. Duncan Bannatyne from Dragons Den is the Chairman.
Intriguing. We look very much forward to seeing it
