October 2, 2017 – Aquavit, the Nordic-inspired all day dining brasserie, is delighted to announce it has been awarded a Michelin star today.
Founder and CEO Philip Hamilton says "We made a conscious decision to be a high quality, more informal brasserie-style establishment than our more formal sister restaurant in New York. We are delighted that Michelin are so in tune with contemporary dining that they chose to award accessible, high quality cuisine with a star."
Executive Chef Henrik Ritzén adds, "I am so pleased that my national cuisine has been rewarded in the heart of London and that Nordic cuisine is getting the recognition it deserves.”
Aquavit opened in London less than a year ago in St. James’s Market and has since been a celebrity hotspot attracting the likes of Rihanna, Rosamund Pike, Winnie Harlow and Michael Fassbender. The restaurant space has been host to a number of influential events including the Osman Fashion Show and most recently, the GQ Grooming Awards.
Inspired by the famous Aquavit in New York, Aquavit London opened in St. James’s Market in November 2016 under Executive Chef Henrik Ritzén, offering a more accessible version of the restaurant in a relaxed, informal setting. Aquavit London offers Nordic-inspired cuisine with a contemporary twist, and provides all day dining as well as a bespoke aquavit trolley. Designed by Swedish-born Martin Brudnizki, Aquavit London is a convivial yet sophisticated space, which covers 120 guests including in the bar and has two exquisite private dining rooms. The restaurant also showcases pieces by revered Nordic designers including a wall-mounted textile by Olafur Eliasson, cutlery by Georg Jensen, and artwork by Andrea Hamilton.
